Singapore has been investing billions in new infrastructure and facilities to prepare for the growth in Asia’s air travel market. Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 4 will open in 2017 and plans are afoot for Terminal 5, a mega passenger terminal to be ready by end of the next decade. By then, Changi will be able to handle up to 135 million passengers a year, up from 66 million now.
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2016, Aviation industry could be worth $88 billion to Singapore economy in 20 years. IATA expects that, in 2035, Singapore will handle about 117 million passengers. The growth in Asian air travel is expected to create new jobs and boost economies. The growth will also bring opportunities in related sectors such as retail and hotel industries.

Australia’s Southern Cross University and Airways Aviation have teamed up to offer a Bachelor of Business (Aviation Management) with the addition of a fully accredited CASA Commercial Pilot License. In UK, Coventry University runs a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Aviation Management where students will explore the areas of air transport, airline terminal functions, and logistic operations and gain knowledge and practical skills in dealing with effective management of aviation. Placement opportunities within the industry had included Airbus, Birmingham Airport Ltd. CityJet, Coventry Airport/Patriot Aviation, Eastern Airways, Lufthansa, Servisair, Skyguide, Star Alliance, TAROM, TUI Travel, and UBM Aviation Routes.
