University of Chester was founded as Chester Diocesan Training College in 1839, becoming a full-pledged university in 2005. The University is one of the oldest institutions in the UK. Emphasis on research has benefited society such as the development of England’s first ‘carbon neutral’ village and discovering a vitamin compound which reduces the risk of heart disease and dementia. The University also has various connections with industry and professions.
The Guardian University league tables 2019 ranked the University of Chester at 94th place in the UK. The University was also accorded the Teaching Excellence Framework Silver Award in 2018.
