Celebrated its 150 year anniversary in 2015, Cardiff Metropolitan University is a thriving and modern university. As of 2012 the university is ranked as the top 'new' university in Wales by the major university guides – The Guardian University Guide 2013, the Complete University Guide 2013 published in The Independent and the Times Good University Guide 2013. In 2017, Cardiff Metropolitan University ranked 72 in the nation (the Complete University Guide, 2017.) Results of the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF) (2014) rank Cardiff Met as the top post-1992 University in the UK, with 80% of the University's overall quality profile rated as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent'.

The Cardiff School of Sport is also a recognised centre of excellence in the UK.

Cardiff Metropolitan University is organised into five academic schools:

Providing modern, well-equipped buildings with all the facilities a student would need to succeed, Cardiff Metropolitan City have spent over £50 million in recent years on upgrading our estates and student facilities with future investment planned.

 

Various courses from the School of Health Science are professionally accredited, giving them extra credence in the world of work. Courses include biomedical science, dental technology, food science and technology, psychology and speech and language therapy.

 

The Cardiff School of Sport is also a recognised centre of excellence in the UK.
