Background/History

Long Island University (LIU) is one of the country’s biggest private Universities dedicated to the educational interests and needs of its students. The University’s mission is to “provide excellence and access in private higher education to people from all backgrounds who seek to expand their knowledge and prepare themselves for meaningful, educated lives and for service to their communities and the world.“ Established in 1926 under the guiding principle of educating and empowering men and women from all walks of life, LIU strives to develop and expand academic possibilities by offering more than 500 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs and certificates across multiple campuses.
