Psychology is the study of how people think, act, react and interact. The discipline covers all aspects of behaviour and thoughts, feelings and motivation underlying such behaviour. The field of psychology includes both research and practice; through research, psychologists learn fundamental principles about human or animal behaviour while the practical aspect of psychology (practitioners) involves working with people directly. Psychology can be divided into various branches which include Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Educational Psychologist, Neuropsychologist, Occupational Psychologist, and Social Psychologist.
Institutions with Psychology
In Singapore, graduates are encouraged to join the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) if you intend to pursue a career as a psychologist in Singapore. The general rule is that psychology degrees must be recognised or accredited by the national psychological bodies in that country or are completed at and conferred by universities that are recognised or accredited by the relevant authorities in that country to apply for registration or licensure as qualified psychologists. Professional psychology bodies include Australian Psychological Society, British Psychological Society, American Psychological Association, Canadian Psychological Association, New Zealand Psychological Society.
