Background/History

Established in 1876 as the first public institution of higher learning in Texas, Texas A&M University today stands as a research-intensive flagship university committed to sending student leaders out into the world.  Situated in College Station, Texas, it is the fourth largest university in the United States (largest in Texas). In 2015, the University’s main campus accommodated over 64,000 students. The University is one of the few universities in the country to be designated a land grant, sea grant, and space grant university. On-going projects funded by agencies such as NASA, the National Institute of Health, the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research.
