Background/History
With a heritage dating back to 1892, The University of East London (UEL) is a public university located in the London Borough of Newham, England.
UEL is based in two superbly equipped campuses – in Stratford, close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and in London Docklands, near Royal Albert Dock. The University have invested £170 million on facilities in the past decade to create a world-class learning environment. Both campuses boast state-of-the-art teaching facilities including top-quality laboratories, computer-suites and high-tech libraries, open 24/7 in term time. Similarly, students have access to professional standard performance studios and workshops, multimedia production centre, clinical education centre, the acclaimed Knowledge Dock business centre and sports facilities previously used by numerous professional athletes. UEL are one of the few universities in London to offer students on-campus living, providing plenty of space to relax and socialise. UEL Docklands campus is home to a purpose-built student village with en-suite accommodation for 1,200 students.

Nationally, several academic subjects in UEL are ranked in the top 50 in UK. As according to the Guardian University league tables, 2017 subjects include Criminology (21st), Economics (34th), and Tourism and Hospitality Management (41st).
The University has also earned several accolades and recognition throughout the recent years. Lecturers from The School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering were part of the team that won UK’s premier visual arts award, the Turner Prize in 2015. 86 per cent of research from the School of Health, Sport and Bioscience were rated either ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent in 2014 by Research Excellence Framework (REF), and 100% satisfaction from student among its courses according to the National Student Survey (NSS) in 2015. Similarly, the School of Psychology received a student satisfaction of 91 per cent on its counselling course following NSS, 2016.
