Background/History
The University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university which prides itself on partnerships with public and private sectors. Initially founded as The Andersonian Institute in 1796, and then receiving its royal charter in 1964, it holds the distinction of being the first technological university in the UK.

The Strathclyde Business School has been triple accredited by three international accrediting bodies, including the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, based in the USA. It ranked in the top 10 in UK and number 1 in Scotland by the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014).
The university offers a range of subjects, but has a focus on technological and scientific studies.
The university is highly ranked among the top 10 in the UK in various subjects which includes Accounting & Finance (1st); Architecture (8th); Aural & Oral Sciences (9th); Chemical Engineering (7th); Education (5th); Electrical & Electronic Engineering (7th); Forensic Science (3rd); Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation & Tourism (2nd); Marketing (9th); Medical Technology (3rd); and Pharmacology & Pharmacy (3rd).
Research is also an important part of Strathclyde’s offerings, with key focuses on health, manufacturing and energy, among others. The university ranks among the top 30 of the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) league table published by the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES).
University of Strathclyde International Study Centre (ISC)
The University of Strathclyde ISC provides academic tuition and language support for international students who do not yet reach the requirements for entry to aUniversity of Strathclyde undergraduate degree.
Programs offer include International Foundation Year (entry into second year of four year degree), International Year One for BBA (three-year) and Pre-Masters program
International Foundation Year (IFY) - Pathway into second year of undergraduate degree program
The IFY is delivered by StudyGroup and is taught on campus at the University of Strathclyde ISC.
The IFY is a three term program of academic subjects, study skills and English language training that provides a direct path to degree study. The program offers progression routes onto a variety of degrees at University of Strathclyde.
You can choose from the following pathways:
- Business and Social Studies
- Engineering and Sciences
After completing the IFY and successfully meeting the progression grades for your chosen degree course, you will have the opportunity to progress to undergraduate study at the University.
International Year One BBA - Pathway into second year of the three-year BBA degree program at the Strathclyde Business School
The IFY is delivered by StudyGroup and is taught on campus at the University of Strathclyde ISC.
The International Year One is athree term comprehensive program containing both academic subject-specialist areas and English language study, designed to equip you for entry into the second year of BBA degree.
Pre-Masters Program (PMP) - Pathway to the postgraduate degree
The PMP is a two term program of core and subject-specific modules that focus on teaching English language, study skills, employability and academic areas most relevant to your chosen degree at Sussex.
